SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or above
- Windows OS
- Pentium 4 at 3 GHz (recommended)
- 1 GB of Memory
- Use an advanced video card with high resolution and memory size
- Recommended video card: Radeon X800 XT AGP or better
- Laptop displays should be set up for only one display at a time
Installation Procedure:
- Just follow the instructions for "Option a.)" below.
Instructions
NOTE: Do not push buttons at random
without thinking. The basic functionality of this system is a) view any desired
video while downloading it, b) playback downloaded videos, c) stop the
downloaded video at any desired frame, d) process the desired frames using the
"Edit Frame" button with its corresponding sub-functions and continue viewing
the downloaded video till the end or until stopping. This is the basic process
for any desired video.
There are 2 options: a) Download and
view a new movie while downloading it and b) Select and view a movie from a collection of previously
downloaded and stored movies. The "Edit Frame" button can be used with this
option.
In either option, the movie will
start playing at the small size (320x240 pixels per frame) for standard definition
or the standard size(960x540 pixels per frame) for High Definition. You can select
the standard size (640x480 pixels/frame) for standard definition or the
large size (1280x960 pixels per frame) for High Definition and go back and forth between the resolutions by
pressing the corresponding buttons in the playing window. The best quality is,
of course, at the large size if your computer has sufficient computing power. In most
cases, the large size should be used with archived movies and the standard size when viewing
while downloading although computers of about 3 GHz can also play
the large size while viewing and downloading.
Option a)
- Click on Video Menu
- Select a video
- Click on the Play Video Button to start viewing the selected video. If
you don't have any previous version of the ADC2 Player, you will be asked
whether you wish to install it. Just click "Yes" and, after a few seconds, a
grey screen will appear followed almost immediately by the start of the
desired video. If you have a previous version, it will be automatically
uninstalled and the latest version will be installed as above. If you already have the latest version, no questions will be
asked and the video will start right away.
- You can continue viewing until the end of the video clip or until you
press the "Stop" button beneath the viewing screen. After
stopping, you can select another video by pressing the "Back to Main Menu"
button.
- If your Internet connection does not have sufficient capacity to support
the bandwidth requirements of the movie you selected (indicated in the video
menu next to the video name), the video will stop and a message will appear
asking whether you want to continue in real time with possibly more
interruptions. If your answer is yes, the video will continue playing
possibly until the end or probably until the next stop. At every stop, you
will be asked the same question. If your answer is no at any time, you must
then press the "Back to Main Menu" button to go back to the menu page. You
can then select the video you are interested in and press the "Download"
button for strictly downloading and later viewing. A window will appear
asking where you want to store the video and, after you define any desired
directory and filename, the video will start downloading and a window with
progress bar will indicate the state of downloading as well as the file size
being downloaded.
- You can view the recorded videos by pressing the button
"Play Downloaded Files" and opening the desired file on the window
that appears. If you are saving the downloaded videos in different
directories you have to move to the proper directory. You can create your own library of movies by saving the
downloaded files to different directories and naming them as appropriate. Note that these files
can only be viewed through the computer to which the ADC2 Player has
been downloaded. Any attempt to transfer them to other unauthorized systems
for viewing will fail because of the ADC2 content protection
technology.
- After using the "Stop" button to stop the viewing of the
downloading video, it is necessary to return to the movie menu and select a
new or the same video for downloading and viewing. The "Continue" button
only works with archived videos under the download function.
- You can advance frame by frame the recorded video by pressing "Next".
- You can process any desired frame by stopping and using the "Next"
button to get to the frame of interest and then pressing "Edit Frame". A new
window (the FrameLab window) will appear with the desired frame.
- Press "Image" from the options shown at the top of the window and a menu
will appear with with a set of available processing steps.
- You can use the mouse to select an area of interest by pressing on the
left button of the mouse and moving it over the converted image.
- Press "Image" again and click on "New From Selection" to get an image of
the area of interest.
- Press "Image" again and go to the "Expand" menu option and select an
"expansion factor" from 4X to 1024X.
- After expansion of the area of interest press "Image" again and select
"Enhance" from the menu.
- After all this processing, the resulting image can be saved by pressing
on the "File" menu of the working window and using the "Save" menu option.
- The last step to get out of "Edit Frame" and go back to the player is to
press "Image" again and click on "Clean Up" to get rid of all the
intermediate files created so that the system will not be clogged.
- Press "Yes" when asked to delete all temporary files.
- Close the "FrameLab" window and the gray screen of the player will
appear. Press "Continue" to proceed viewing where you left off.
Option b):
-
Click on "Video Archive"
-
A window will appear that enables you to select
any desired previously recorded file in any directory.
-
Select a file and press "Open".
-
The selected video will be played.
-
The video will stop at the end or if you press
"Stop". In this case, if you press "Continue", the video will
continue playing even after editing any desired frames.
-
Individual frames can be viewed and processed
as in the strictly downloading case of Option a.) above.
